Federal Aviation Administration awards $1 million to Worcester Regional Airport |
“The exciting renewal happening at Worcester Airport has not only increased their capacity to offer new flights – it has bolstered economic vitality across Central Massachusetts. I’m pleased that this grant will help fund essential upkeep as the airport grows, and I’m proud to have a strong partnership with the FAA as we work together to support our local economy,” said McGovern.
The grant will fund a rehabilitation of 7,300 square yards of existing apron pavement at the airport that has reached the end of its useful life.
Massport CEO Thomas P. Glynn added, “The investments made at Worcester Regional Airport and the support of the Central Massachusetts’ leadership and community is what makes the continued growth and success at the airport possible. Congressman McGovern has been a great advocate and a key player in securing resources within federal government to bring projects at the airport to fruition. We are excited about this award and look forward to providing our customers in Worcester with even more options for travel in the future.”
