Mass Life Science Center to Announce Grants for Schools in Central MA

On Monday, Burncoat Middle School in Worcester will host the announcement of grants for two life sciences-related capital projects an funding for equipment and supplies for high schools and middle schools in Central Massachusetts. The grants will be announced by the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC).

MLSC will join elected officials, UMass Medical School, Quinsigamond Community College, and local school leaders in the announcement including Burncoat Middle School Principal Lisa Houlihan, MLSC Vice President for Communications and Marketing Angus McQuilken, and Senator Harriette Chandler (D-Worcester). 

Burncoat Middle School will be represented also by student Aisling Novick.

Other guests include:

·         Dale Allen, Ph.D., Vice President of Community Engagement, Quinsigamond Community College

·         Jean King, PhD, Associate Provost for Biomedical Science Research, UMass Medical School

·         Kathy Berube, Science Curriculum Liaison, Worcester Public Schools

·         Andre Ravenelle, Superintendent, Fitchburg Public Schools

·         Chris Hickman, Programming and Web Development Teacher, Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School

·         William Evans, Principal, North Brookfield High School

·         Matthew Connors, Engineering Program Team Leader, Blackstone Valley Vocational Regional High School

·         Maureen Chase, Academic Coordinator for Science Department, Quabbin Regional High School

The announcement will be held at 1 PM at the Burncoat Middle Library - 135 Burncoat Street, Worcester.

Parking will be available across from the Burncoat Middle School at the Church of the Nazarene, 146 Burncoat Street.
