Harrington Healthcare System will recognize Emergency Department nurse Elise Wilson, RN, and nearly 50 members of the Harrington staff and the Southbridge law enforcement and emergency medical community who responded with life-saving measures when Wilson was critically injured while tending to a patient back in June.

About Wilson

In the aftermath of the tragic incident in Harrington’s Southbridge emergency department on June 14, Wilson credited the quick and professional response of her Harrington and emergency medical community colleagues with saving her life.

Wilson, 65, was assisting a patient at the Southbridge hospital when, police say, the patient took out a knife and stabbed her, causing severe injuries that required surgery.

Since then, Harrington HealthCare has become an industry leader by responding to the incident with far-reaching measures designed to improve workplace safety for its employees, patients, and visitors.

The ceremony is intended to acknowledge and thank everyone who responded to this incident and to shine a light on the positive outcomes that emerged from this tragic event.
