LEAD Celebrates debut of Camper Mental Health Certification
LEAD is celebrating the debut of Camper Mental Health Certification (CMHC).

CMHC is a 2-hour training program that introduces camp counselors and staff to risk factors and warning signs of adolescent mental illness.

“The momentum CMHC has gained is exciting! Camp directors see the need. Counselors value LEAD’s preventive and proactive education. And LEAD now has data to support the effectiveness of this one-of-a-kind course. I’m grateful we could be part of the course’ debut,” said Leominster Recreation camp counselor Kayla Kenney.

In one month, LEAD has certified Leominster Recreation, Concord Academy Summer Camp, and Girl Scouts of Eastern MA - Camp Favorite, in Camper Mental Health Certification.

Certification Results

Results from the certification are as follows, based on a 1(least) -5 (most) scale on a post-course evaluation. The evaluation was completed by 100 of the participating camp counselors and staff.

• 92% camp counselors rated their confidence supporting their coworkers if they experience a mental health challenge or crisis, between 4 and 5.

• 88% camp counselors rated their confidence reaching out to a camper experience a mental health challenge or crisis, between 4 and 5. Page | 2
