If you're on the lookout for a new pet for you or your family, look no further.
Whether you want a dog, a cat, or even a furry little friend to complete your home, think adoption first! There are hundreds of lovable pets just waiting for you to take them home in rescue leagues and shelters everywhere.
Check out these 10 pets available for adoption from the Broken Tail Rescue, below
Spayed / neutered, special needs. Tony has Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV+), which is a cat-only disease that decreases the ability of the immune system to fight some infections. FIV+ is not easily passed between cats. It CANNOT be transmitted casually through shared litter boxes, water and food bowls, or when snuggling or playing. FIV is most commonly transmitted via deep bites during cat fights, the virus is present in the saliva of infected cats. With appropriate care and treatment of chronic conditions, most FIV+ cats live long, healthy and relatively symptom free lives.
Cookie is a sweet and sassy 8 year old tortie girl with a beautiful soft brindled coat.
Cookie enjoys sitting on high perches so she can survey her kingdom between naps. She also loves catnip and being scratched around the neck with a back scratcher.
This beautiful tortie was initially shy and a little grumpy in the Adoption Center, but she's opening up and now enjoys exploring and receiving treats!
Grace is a gentle, gray and white kitty, 10 years old, who loves head pats, cheek scritches, and being brushed to keep her fur soft and silky. She is friendly and affectionate.
Grace has so much love to give and she hopes that her age won't deter you from making this sweet girl part of your family!
Hi there! My name's Puddy. That's Puddy like Puddy-Tat or Puddy like clay, you choose. I answer to both!
I'm in the Adoption Center because my owner passed away. It's a sad time for me, but that doesn't keep me from engaging with all the humans around me. I just love people! I also love being petted and as you can see, I like to lean my whole body into neck scritches. While I'm not doing it currently, I think I might like to cuddle, too. I'm 13, but I hope you won't let my age deter you from meeting me!
Sophie is a black and white female who was surrendered with her brother, Scottie (also black and white).
Sophie and Scottie are gentle cats who were initially shy in the Adoption Center. Now that they've moved to a homier environment with a foster mom and a couple of resident cat siblings to show them the ropes, they are blossoming into happy, loving kitties who like to chase and play. Sophie also likes to roll over for belly rubs and Scottie is a lovebug!
Buddy is an adorable 6 year old Terrier mix who weighs no more than 4 lbs. He is very quiet and loves to cuddle up on a nice warm lap. He does well with other dogs, although he is not one to play with them. He has not been around cats but we have no concerns. Buddy would do best in a quiet home, and while he would be fine around children, he would rather not live with the commotion. He loves everyone he meets, and is content to be carried around everywhere he goes. He is housetrained and walks nicely on a leash. Buddy only has a few teeth, but we are told he eats small kibble with no problem.
Teddy is a 3-4 year old male Pomeranian mix. He weighs about 13 lbs. He came to rescue from a local animal control and is doing great in foster care! Teddy loves his foster mom and begs her for pets. It's never enough! When he was taken in by animal control he was really matted on his back end which caused some inflammation. Due to this (we believe) he has some sensitivity around his back end, though he has an anti-inflammatory injection on board which is helping. We are hoping that time, a healthy diet and some love in his foster home will help him to make progress. He is timid around other dogs, and due to his sensitivity we are going to require an adult only home. Teddy feels safe in his crate. He is a quiet dog and makes quite the easy keeper!
Hi there! My name is ‘Ulysses’, but everyone calls me ‘Uly’ for short. (Well, actually, everyone usually calls me ‘Aw, you’re such a cutie pie!’ but that’s a bit of a mouthful, I think.) As a young and trendy 2 year old, I enjoy the important things in life: good walkies, good chewies, and good curled-up-on-the-couch selfies. In fact, a good snuggle is probably my favorite thing - and I may weigh 50 pounds, but I can certainly squeeze onto a lap like any dog half my size.
Lillie is an 11-month-old terrier mix who weighs about 12 lbs. Lillie gets along well with the other dogs, wants to play, loves toys, and ignores the cat. Lillie is working on her house training with her foster mom, and making progress every day! She loves her people, and will follow her foster mom everywhere she goes. She is the ultimate velcro dog! She does not love the crate, as she prefers to be with her people.
