Free Fun Friday at the Museum of Russian Icons
The Museum will open an hour early, at 10 a.m., on this special day.
We’ll have docent-led tours, crafts and Russian games, a sale in the Museum Store, Russian snacks for sale, and tons of fun!
The event begins at 10 a.m.
Worcester Bravehearts vs Martha's Vineyard Sharks at Fitton Field
The Worcester Bravehearts are back in action to take on Martha's Vineyard.
The Bravehearts are currently three games back of the first place Sharks with a record of 31-19.
The Sharks are 34-16 overall.
Game time is set for 7 p.m.
Free Fun Friday at the Worcester Historical Museum
Worcester has many remarkable people living in its neighborhoods. Hear the stories of how various cultural groups came to Worcester and prospered. And learn some of the unique and beautiful traditions from each that makes up the fabric of Worcester.
Guests can also work their way through our maze of Worcester, try their hand at quilting, make a family coat-of-arms, and visit our selfie station.
Worcester Shakespeare Festival at Alternatives’ Singh Performance Center
Worcester Shakespeare Company presents “The Herbal Bed” by
Peter Whelan. The year is 1613.
The place is Stratford-upon-Avon. William Shakespeare’s eldest daughter, Susanna Hall, has been accused of adultery with Rafe Smith, a married man. Susanne,
herself married to prominent Stratford doctor Jonathan Hall, sues her accuser,
Jack Lane, for slander in the court of Worcester Cathedral.
Shakespeare’s presence looms ethereally over this emotional take of forbidden love and private intrigue.
The event begins at 8 p.m.
Redcoats and Rebels at Old Sturbridge Village
See the largest military re-enactment in New England with nearly 1,000 soldiers portraying British, Irish, Spanish, Scottish, French and Colonial troops.
The Village is transformed into a military camp from the time of the War for Independence, as it was known in early New England.
Come see what it was really like for those who fought to win America’s freedoms.
Daytime events on both days include activities such as:
- Mock battles and skirmishes
- Tours of the British and American camps
- “School of the Soldier” training demonstrations
- 18th-century Fashions in the Press featuring military and civilian clothing
- Cannon demonstrations
- Musket drilling with kids
- Martial music
- Help with camp laundry
- Learn scouting techniques during “Reconnoiter with a Ranger”
- Drilling and inspection of the troops
- Visit the battlefield hospital – see smallpox inoculations and treatment of the wounded after the battles
- See the daily life of a Revolutionary War soldier – including delivery of uniforms, pay calls, and prisoner exchanges
- Play 18th-century baseball
- Attend a “Service for the Troops”
- Learn 18th-century dances
- Explore interactive miniature wargaming
The event goes from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Crown Hill and the Greek Revival Style
Hidden right on the edge of downtown, Crown Hill is a beautifully preserved neighborhood of mid-19th-century middle-class dwellings.
Learn about the Greek Revival style and find out about Crown Hill’s 1970s restoration and the recent establishment of the Crown Hill Historic District.
The tour ends on Congress Street with a visit to a neighborhood house and garden.
Massachusetts Pirates vs Lehigh Valley Steelhawks at DCU Center
The Massachusetts Pirates will look to get back to their winning ways on Saturday night when they host the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks at the DCU Center.
The Pirates are currently in first place with a record of 9-4 overall, while Lehigh Valley is in last place with a record of 0-12.
Game time is set for 7 p.m.
NY Int'l Children's Film Festival- Kid's Flicks 2 at Worcester Pop Up
Join NYICFF in the movement to create a more dynamic film culture for kids and teens. The Festival’s Kid Flicks touring program brings independent and international films for young people to theaters and arts organizations nationwide.
With a compelling range of styles and themes, Kid Flicks Two offers clever, thought-provoking films sure to inspire audiences ages 8+ to expand their horizons.
Karaoke at Partner's Pub
Wrap up your weekend by belting out your favorite tunes at Partner's Pub on Sunday night.
Karaoke goes from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Sunday Public Tour at Worcester Art Museum
Take a tour of the Worcester Art Museum and check out all the incredible works of art that it houses.
The tour begins in the Lancaster Welcome Center and is FREE with museum admission.
