Sleepy Hollow returns to Old Sturbridge Village
While the disappointment of summer being over may still linger with some New Englanders, the fall season is an exciting time of year.

The leaves on the trees are a sight to behold, the music scene is still alive, apple and pumpkin picking season is here. 

To help New Englanders get past the end of summer blues, GoLocalWorcester has come up with 20 things to do this fall in Central Massachusetts.

Events range from haunted houses to apple picking and more.

  • Great Pumpkin Nights at the EcoTarium

    The Great Pumpkin Festival at the EcoTarium in Worcester is a must attend this fall in New England. 

    The event features more than 1000 carved pumpkins, live entertainment, family fun with trick-or-treating, displays and more.

     
  • Get Spooked at the Factory of Terror 

    Who isn't looking forward to celebrating the Halloween season at the Factory of Terror in Worcester? 

    The Factory of Terror consists of five different attractions including Dracula's HIdeaway, Phobia Mayhem, Zombie Alley and much more. 

     
  • Fall Golf at Green Hill Golf Course 

    The end of Summer does not mean the end of golf season.

    The fall is a great time of year for golfing at Green Hill Golf Course or any of the courses across the state.  

    The fall offers some of the best-golfing weather of the year, not too hot and not too cold. 

    Golf season has not left.

     
  • Eat Ice Cream at Gibby's Dairy Farm

    Gibby's Dairy Farm serves over 60 flavors of ice cream and over 20 flavors of soft serve ice cream for your enjoyment.

  • Walk, Run or Bike the Blackstone River Bikeway

    The idea behind the Blackstone River Bikeway was to create a bike path running 48 miles, from Worcester to Providence along the National Heritage Corridor.

    It links the Blackstone River and the Blackstone Canal connect with the East Bay Bike Path in Rhode Island. 

     
  • Visit Fruitlands Museum 

    The Fruitlands Museum offers four galleries of New England history set on 200 acres of land with 2.5 miles of walking trails woven into it for folks to enjoy the scenery. 

    Admission to the museum is $5. 

     
  • Check Out the Sleepy Hollow Experience at Old Sturbridge Village 

    The Sleepy Hollow Experience is back at Old Sturbridge Village. 

    During the experience, guests will be ghoulishly guided through the Village’s countryside where they will encounter Ichabod Crane, Katrina Van Tassel, Brom Bones and quite possibly the Headless Horseman.

     
  • Apple Picking at Tougas Family Farm 

    Tougas Family Farm is a great place to take the family for a day of Apple picking. 

    A 10 pound Peck Bag, admits 4 people into the orchard $26

    While a 20 pound 1/2 Bushel Bag, admits 6 people into the orchard $36

    The farm is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

     
  • King Richards Faire 

    Dive into history at King Richard's Faire, New England's oldest and largest Renaissance Festival and most beloved annual fall event. Dress up, play games and learn a lot at a fair that is a great fall event for the entire family.

    The Fair runs from September 1 through October 21.

  • Leaf Peeping at Moore State Park 

    The 730-acre park has been the site of gristmills and sawmills and many other things since 1747.

    Explore the trails in the central section of the park to witness the beautiful colors.

    Then find a nice spot to settle down, have a picnic and enjoy the day and the leaves. 

     
  • Visit the Worcester Art Museum 

    It's never a bad time to head to the Worcester Art Museum. 

    Tours begin in the Lancaster Welcome Center and is FREE with museum admission. 

     
  • Start Yoga Classes at the Sprinkler Factory

    The Sprinkler Factory will be resuming their Sunday morning yoga classes on September 23. 

    The classes will run through October 28. 

    Classes begin at 9:30 a.m. 

     
  • Family HIke at Tower Hill Botanic Garden

    Go on a family hike through Tower Hill Botanic Garden. 

    "We’ll explore a nature theme and take a closer look at what nature has to offer on a guided walk around our mile-long loop trail," says Tower Hill on their website. 


     

     
  • Tony Bennett at Hanover Theatre 

    Music legend Tony Bennett will be performing at Hanover Theatre on Friday, September 28.
