The Exhibits
Kim Cutler: Pieced Together
Kim Cutler prefers the process of hand building as opposed to throwing on a pottery wheel in Pieced Together.
Through this technique she is able to decorate slabs of clay with embossing, stamping, and slip before she constructs the pot.
The process also allows the artist to form a variety of shapes, freeing her from traditional silhouettes. Cutler takes influence from Chinese bronzes and Asian ceramics, finding simplicity and tranquility in their clean line and design.
Lora Brueck & Nancy Engberg: From a Matrix
In From a Matrix, Lora Brueck and Nancy Engberg combine photography and paper crafts to create unique, two-dimensional designs.
Their work consists of individual collaged photographs bordered by unique papers in quilt-like patterns. Brueck and Engberg dynamically explore events by combining multiple images, shapes, and colors.
Each grid of photographs and paper is united by a theme, color, or shape to tell a story.
