Mid-September is the best time of year for apple picking.

Close your eyes and think of the possibilities: a bag of juicy apples, freshly pressed apple cider, the aroma of warm apple pie, tasty candy apples, and scrumptious strudel!

  • Bolton Orchards

    Bolton, MA

    Visit Bolton Orchards and their gift shop for home grown in-season fruits and vegetables, fresh cut flowers (available year round), fruit baskets, gourmet deli & specialty foods, fresh pressed cider, the "best apple deal" in town, homemade fudge, and a little bit more of the "good things in life" all under one roof.

  • Brookfield Orchards, Inc

    North Brookfield, MA

    Definitely more than an apple orchard! Pick your own apples starting Labor Day.  The Snack Bar offers hot apple dumplings and ice cream, cheese and cider. The Country Store will tempt you with honey common crackers, maple products, “Penny Candy”, culinary delights, antiques and collectables and much more! They have a playground and picnic tables - please stay awhile. Open year ‘round 9-5. Closed July 4th, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

    Harvard, MA

    Carlson Orchards, Inc. is a 140-acre fruit orchard/agri-business located one hour West of Boston in Harvard. The orchard has been run by the Carlson family since 1936.  Open year-round. A variety of pick your own fruits available July-November including apples, blueberries, raspberries, peaches, nectarines, and pumpkins.

  • Davis Farmland

    Sterling, MA

    Davis Farmland is the ultimate Children’s Discovery Farm featuring interactive play and learning for children ages 1-8.  Davis Farmland is home to the largest sanctuary of Heritage farm animals in North America.

    Opening in early August, Davis Mega Maze is New England’s only world-class, cornfield adventure maze and consistently one of the top 3 mazes on earth.  Each year, Davis Mega Maze is all new including the theme.  This signature maze design is drafted each year in England by Adrian Fisher, the world’s most renowned maze architect.

  • Lanni Orchards

    Lunenburg, Massachusetts

    Lanni Orchards, Inc. was started 50 years ago by Pasquale Lanni and his sons.  Today the farm is being operated by the third and fourth generations.  

    The farm includes apples, peaches, pears, corn, squash, strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.

    Their farm stand, which is open year round, sells fresh baked bread, fresh baked pies, cakes, tea breads, maple syrup, honey, cheese, and vinegars & oils.

    Every month, Lanni Orchards hosts a "Taste of Local" event.

  • Phantom Farms

    Cumberland, RI

    Phantom Farms has been in business for 60 years. This farms grows 15 varieties of apples.

    The most popular varieties include Macoun and Honeycrisp.

    Strawberries, blueberries, tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, peppers, pumpkins are also available.

  • Barden Family Orchard

    North Scituate, RI

    With apple trees dating back to 1931, the Bardens grow Macintosh, Gala, Cortland, Liberty, Jonagold, Macoun and other apple varieties on their family farm near Route 116 in North Scituate. They also produce and sell their own apple cider from mid-September through March. Make sure you stock up for the winter ahead.

  • Old Stone Orchard

    Little Compton, RI

    The drive to Little Compton is gorgeous any time of year, but especially now as the leaves turn Technicolor. In addition to pick-your-own apples the farm offers educational tours for children (please call in advance). Old Stone Orchard grows Ginger Gold, Jona Mac, Gala, Honey Crisp, Mcoun, Empire, Cortland, Jona Gold, Fuji, Ida Red and Granny Smith apples.

    Cranston, RI

    One of the more familar names around Western Cranston, look for the original Pippin Orchard, founded in 1964, just north of Scituate Avenue. They also sell pies, turnovers and candy apples.

    Sweet Berry Farm offers dozens of varieties of apples: Macintosh, Golden Supreme, Gala, Macoun, Cortland, Honeycrisp, Jonagold, Empire, Liberty, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Mutsu Crispin, Cameo, Autumn Gala, Ida Red, Fuji, Braeburn and Granny Smith.

    In the late 1800's, the Dame Family made their living predominantly through dairy cows and apple orchards.

    This farm offers apples, blueberries, strawberries, and peaches.

    Sunset Orchard has been a family run and owned business for 50 years. 

    This 18 1/2 acre farm grows 18 varieties of apples.

    Their largest variety is the Macoun.

  • Jaswell's Farm

    Smithfield, RI

    Located in the heart of the "apple valley", Jaswell's Farm is the oldest operating apple orchard in Smithfield.

    The orchard is run by the fourth generation of the Jaswell family.

    Buy some fresh pie at their bakery which is open daily 8am-5pm from may to December.

  • Lyman Orchards

    Middlefield, CT

    Lyman Orchards, which has overlooked the Connecticut River for more than a century, grows almost 100 varieties of fruits from June through October.

    The Farm Kitchen Bakery sells fresh pies, apple cider donuts, muffins, cookies, breads, and pastries.

    The orchard is known for their award-winning pies.
