Briarwood Retirement Community Announces Free Events for March

The Briarwood Continuing Care Retirement Community announced free and open to the public events for March 2017.
The events begin on Sunday, March 5 with the Eugene McCarthy gallery opening and concluded on Friday, March 31 with a Women Artists exhibit.
The Briarwood Continuing Care Retirement Community is located at 65 Briarwood Circle in Worcester.

Sunday, March 5, 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. (Gallery at Briarwood)
The Gallery at Briarwood will host an Opening Reception for artist B. Eugene McCarthy’s exhibit, “Travels: New England and Beyond.” Light refreshments will be served in the Gallery. The exhbit continues through Thursday, May 4.
Tuesday, March 7, 2:00 p.m.
Pianist Bruce Pratt, Jr. is that rare combination of naturally gifted, classically educated and trained musician. The combination makes for a stunning performance by a very warm
and personable performer.
Saturday, March 11, 2:00 p.m.
Get ready for St. Patty’s Day, and enjoy a little bit o’ the Irish with Colleen Buckhart and her enormously talented Irish Step Dancers from the Jazziak Dance School.
Wednesday, March 22, 2:00 p.m.
Join James A. Welu, Director Emeritus, Worcester Art Museum, for “Frans Post: Bringing Home the New World.”
Dutch painter Frans Post (1612-1680) was the first European-trained artist to paint landscapes in the New World. This illustrated lecture explores the wealth of information these paintings provide, both about the land that inspired them and those who acquired them.

The Jazziak Dance Team will wow you with their incredible jazz dance performance. Really, you won’t want to miss them! They are the talk of Briarwood every year they perform!

Join Freeport, Maine’s Michael Perry for a scenic armchair journey up to the Mount Washington Valley in New Hampshire. Along the way we will explore three great Notches: Evans, Pinkham, and Crawford.

Marylou Hannon of Art Matters presents Women Artists, Part I. Women artists, capable of the art of creation as well as the creation of art, have historically proved threatening to the dominant male establishment. There are many examples of how she has flourished and failed, been celebrated or crushed, but in almost every instance, needing to be better than their male competitors to be taken seriously.
