Dead Body Found in Basement of Worcester Home

Worcester Police are investigating a dead body that was found in the basement of a Penn Ave. home last month.
On Tuesday, March 5, Thomas Aaron, 53, was arrested on a warrant as a result of the investigation.
He was charged with disinterment of a body, identity theft, and misleading a police investigation.
The Incident
On February 19, 2019, 68-year-old Marcelino Mueces of Lovell Street was reported missing.
On February 26, 2019, police located the vehicle of Mr. Mueces on Villa Nova Street.
The vehicle was towed to the Worcester Police Department for processing by the Crime Scene Unit.
During the investigation, Worcester Police detectives obtained a search warrant for a dwelling located at 24 Penn Ave.
On March 2, 2019 detectives executed the search warrant. As a result, a Sergeant from the Crime Scene Unit uncovered human remains in the basement of the dwelling.
The body was identified as Mr. Marcelino Mueces. The Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy.
The official ruling on the cause and manner of death are still pending.
