Man Arrested After Stabbing Neighbor During Fight in Worcester

One man was arrested after stabbing his neighbor following an argument at 49 Pleasant Street in Worcester.
Hiram Irizarry, Jr., 30, charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.
Irizarry will be arraigned on Tuesday, January 16, at the Worcester County District Courthouse.
This investigation is ongoing.
The Incident
On Sunday, January 14, at approximately 12:26 a.m., Worcester police responded to 49 Pleasant Street for a reported stabbing. Upon the officer's arrival they saw blood in the common hallway. Officers saw a door to one of the apartments slightly ajar. Officers could see in plain view that there was blood on the floor inside the apartment. Officers entered the apartment and found a 31-year-old man standing by the kitchen sink. The victim was bleeding from a single stab wound to the chest.
Officers at the scene began to treat the victim until Worcester EMS arrived. The victim was in and out of consciousness. The victim was stabilized and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim was subsequently listed in good condition.
Investigators were called to the scene to speak with witnesses.
Information was obtained that the victim was in an argument with his neighbor, later identified as Irizarry, Jr of 49 Pleasant Street. Officers went to the suspect’s apartment and located him inside. Irizarry was placed under arrest without incident and charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.
Investigators went to the hospital and met with the victim. Investigators asked the victim to describe the events leading up to the stabbing but he provided little information and was basically uncooperative.
