A man was arrested in Worcester for gun possession and trafficking cocaine following a search warrant.

Jehrid Laura, 26 ,was placed under arrest and charged with Trafficking in Class B Substance Over 200 grams, Possession of a Class D Substance with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a firearm without FID, Possession of a large capacity firearm without FID, Possession of ammunition without FID, and Use of a Firearm While In Commission of a Felony.

The Incident

On March 7, the Worcester Police Gang Unit had a search warrant for 25 Duxbury Rd #1. Officers were conducting surveillance of the apartment when one of the residents, Laura, exited the apartment. Officers stopped Laura down the street, and explained to him that they had a search warrant for his residence.

Laura began shouting at someone nearby to “call my brother,” with whom he lives. The officers feared that Laura’s brother would either destroy evidence or ambush the officers, so they notified the officers outside the residence that there was a possible compromise. The officers at the residence knocked and announced themselves, and entered the residence.

There were two other residents in the apartment. Officers located approximately 300 grams of crack and powder cocaine, as well as a loaded firearm with a large-capacity magazine, in a safe. About a pound of marijuana and various scales, notebooks, and measuring instruments were also present.
