A man was arrested in Worcester for selling crack outside of a Pleasant St. home on Tuesday evening.
Jesus Hernandez was charged with Distribution of a Class B Substance, and Possession of Class B with Intent to Distribute.
On June 5 at about 6 p.m., the Worcester Police Neighborhood Response Team was on patrol in the area of lower Pleasant St in response to citizen complaints about the quality of life issues in the area.
Officers on surveillance saw a small group of men outside of 272 Pleasant St.
A man approached the group with cash in his hand, and began to count the currency.
The man disappeared behind a stairwell with another man, later identified as Hernandez, 30, of 272 Pleasant St.
The man who had approached the group reappeared with Hernandez. The currency was no longer visible, but he appeared to be tightly clutching a small object in his left hand. They saw Hernandez place paper money into his pocket, and the two parted ways.
Officers developed probable cause that Hernandez had engaged in a narcotics transaction. He was stopped and placed under arrest.
A bag with nine individually packaged small bags of “crack” cocaine was recovered, as well as over $700 in cash.
