Man Hit by SUV While Crossing Vernon Street in Worcester

A man was injured after being hit by an SUV in the area of the 290 on ramp and Vernon Street in Worcester. 

At this time, the man, 63, is being evaluated at a local hospital for possible head injuries. Updates will follow if more information becomes available.

The Incident 

On January 18, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Worcester Police responded to the area of the 290 on ramp and Vernon Street for a report of a pedestrian accident. Upon arrival, police saw a 63 year old man laying in the road at the 290 on ramp. He had a small cut on his forehead and was being treated by paramedics on scene. Shortly after police arrived he was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Police spoke with the 24-year-old woman, driver of the Toyota RAV4 that was involved in the accident. She told police that she had the green arrow to turn left onto the 290 on ramp from Vernon Street. As she made the turn from Vernon Street onto 290, the man was walking in the middle of the street. The woman did not see the victim and struck him with the front of her SUV.
