Man Stabbed After Attempting to Break Up Fight in Worcester

A man was stabbed after attempting to break up a fight between another man and a woman in Kelley Square late Friday night.

The suspect was described as only a black male, approximately 6’2” tall. 

The Incident

On Friday, September 14, at approximately 9:42 p.m., several Worcester Police officers responded to Kelley Square for a report of a stabbing. Upon the officers arrival they saw a 39-year-old man suffering from a single stab wound. The man was conscious and alert. Worcester EMS personnel arrived at the scene and treated the victim at the scene prior to transporting him to a nearby hospital.

Officers at the scene were able to speak with the victim while he received medical care.

According to the victim, a man and woman were involved in a domestic dispute and during the argument, the man was seen pushing the woman. At this time, the victim attempted to intervene in an effort to prevent any injury to the woman. The male suspect, described as only a black man, approximately 6’2” tall, began to assault the victim and subsequently stabbed him in the abdomen.

After the stabbing, the man and woman entered a small brown colored MV, possibly a Toyota, and drove off.

Worcester Police detectives arrived at the scene and took over the investigation. Investigators interviewed witnesses while members of the Crime Scene Unit processed evidence. A detective went to the hospital and spoke with medical personnel. The detective was told that the victim received a serious injury but that the wound appears to be non-life threatening.
