One Man Dead Following Double Shooting in Worcester

One man is dead and another is seriously injured following a double shooting on Sturgis Street on early Sunday morning.
This is the second homicide for the city this year.
Police are still investigating and have limited information on the suspect at this time.
On Sunday, July 29, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Worcester Police responded to Sturgis Street for a report of shots fired. Upon the officers arrival they saw several people in the roadway. Officers approached the scene and saw a 28-year-old man on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was treated at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital. He is in serious condition at this time.
While securing the crime scene officers noticed that three parked cars had been hit with stray bullets. The crime scene was taped off and officers began to speak with witnesses. Officers were told that a man had come from the side of a home and began to fire several shots before fleeing the scene. There is limited information on the suspect at this time.
WPD detectives and members of the Crime Scene Unit arrived and took charge of the investigation. While interviewing witnesses it was learned that a second shooting victim, a 23-year-old man, arrived in the emergency room of a local hospital. The second victim was transported there by a family member.
The 23-year-old man was suffering from a life-threatening injury and was immediately transported to another hospital for treatment. He succumbed to his injuries and pronounced deceased Sunday morning. This is the second homicide for the city this year.
