Three men arrested following fight in Worcester
Three men were arrested following a fight on Water St. in Worcester early Monday morning.

Louis Ayala, 23 of Southbridge was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and intimidation of a witness.

Luis Figueroa, 26, of Southbridge was charged with intimidation of a witness, interfering with a police officer, and resisting arrest.

Jose Pena, 22 of Southgate St. was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Interfering with a Police Officer.

The Incident

On Monday May 15, at about 1:55 a.m., an officer working an off-duty assignment at Mambo Drinks nightclub called out for assistance with a large, unruly crowd on Water St. As officers arrived, they saw several individuals appear to be getting ready to fight each other. As officers dispersed the crowd, several groups of five to ten people remained behind and continued to antagonize each other.

One man, later identified as Ayala, was particularly aggressive in trying to fight. After he refused police requests to leave the area several times, officers approached him. Ayala began telling his friends to surround the officers, and was yelling “I have guns too, I’m ready!” Ayala continued refusing orders to take his hands out of his pockets, so police approached him and attempted to take his hands out of his pockets. He responded by spitting directly in the face of an officer. Ayala was told he was under arrest, to which he responded by throwing punches at the officers present. After a brief struggle, he was placed in handcuffs.

During the arrest of Ayala, another man, later identified as Figueroa, came up behind one of the officers and struck the officer in the back of his head. Figueroa was placed under arrest and taken into custody.

While officers were bringing Ayala and Figueroa to the their cruisers, an unidentified woman began blocking their path and screaming at them. Because she was interfering with the arrest of the two men, the woman was told she was under arrest. As officers approached her to place her in handcuffs, a man identified as Pena, stepped in front of the woman and pushed the officer in the chest.

The woman left the area during the struggle with the men.
