A Worcester man was arrested after robbing the Dollar General store armed with a knife on Saturday evening.

Vencenzo Brancaccio, 31, was charged with armed robbery and also a previous warrant.

The Incident

On Saturday July 7, at about 6:30 p.m., Worcester Police were sent to an armed robbery at the Dollar General store at 1049 Main Street. The reporter told the officers that the suspect, who was well-known to employees and had been previously banned from the store, walked over to the cell phone area and grabbed two phones.

The store employee advised him to leave, at which point he took out a knife and held it in a threatening manner toward the employee. The suspect ran out of the store with the phones.

Officers on scene got the description of the suspect and broadcast it over the radio.

About ten minutes after the initial call came out, two officers working the Summer Impact Detail spotted a male who matched the description on the corner of Main and Beaver St.

A show-up was conducted, and the victim identified as Brancaccio of Worcester, as the man who robbed the store. Brancaccio also had an outstanding warrant, and was placed under arrest.

A knife was found on his person.
