A Worcester man was arrested in connection with a stabbing outside the Main Street RMV early Friday morning.

Roberto Gomez-Ramirez, 21, charged with Armed Assault to Murder and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (knife).

The Incident

On Saturday, September 16 at about 1:15 a.m., Worcester police officers were on patrol in the area of Burncoat St. On Friday morning, a man had been stabbed on Main St outside the RMV, and a description of the suspect was circulated to officers in a department-wide email.

As they drove down Burncoat St, officers on patrol spotted a suspect, later identified as Gomez-Ramirez, who matched the description of the stabbing suspect. Gomez-Ramirez appeared to be wearing the exact same clothes and the same distinctive New York baseball hat that the suspect had worn the day before.

Officers turned their car around, and came back to speak with  Gomez-Ramirez at the corner of Burncoat and North Parkway.

Once the officers identified Gomez-Ramirez as the suspect from the stabbing, he was placed under arrest.

During a search incident to arrest, a knife was removed from his pocket. The knife was placed into evidence, and Gomez-Ramirez was brought to the station for booking.
