Worcester Police are in search of a suspect who stole a woman’s car in Upland Gardens on Monday night.

The suspect was described as a light complexion black male, green eyes, long hair, approximately 5’8” tall and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

The Incident

On Monday, January 8 at approximately 6:00 p.m., Worcester Police responded to Upland Gardens Drive for a reported carjacking. Upon the officers arrival, they met with the 40-year-old female victim. According to the victim, she was entering her 2013 Toyota when she was approached by a man holding a gun. The man ordered her out the car.

The suspect entered the Toyota and drove out of the parking lot and was last seen driving towards Upland Street.

The victim was unhurt.

The victim told the officers that she was in possession of the key fob and that the car would only travel a short distance before shutting down.

Several officers responded to the area and began to search for the car. The Toyota was subsequently located in a parking lot, within the same complex, not far from the initial theft.

WPD detectives responded to the scene and spoke with the victim. Members of the Crime Scene Unit responded and processed the area where the vehicle was found. The Toyota was towed back to police headquarters and processed for evidence.
