Worcester Police Investigating Crash Between Bicyclist & Car

Worcester Police are investigating a crash between a bicyclist and a car in the area of Southbridge and Madison Street.
The bicyclist’s injuries are not fatal, and the investigation is still ongoing.
The Incident
On Tuesday, July 31 at about 6 p.m., Worcester Police received a call that a bicyclist was involved in an accident in the area of Southbridge at Madison St. Upon arrival, officers located the injured bicyclist, who was receiving medical aid. Paramedics brought the bicyclist to the hospital with a shoulder and possible head injury.
The preliminary investigation revealed a Hyundai Elantra was traveling northbound on Southbridge Street .The Hyundai had the green light at the intersection of Southbridge Street at Madison Street. The operator of the car continued northbound on Southbridge Street. The bicyclist was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of Madison Street. The bicyclist had the red light, but failed to stop and entered the intersection without braking.
The bicyclist and car struck one another in the driver’s side front and center of the car. The bicyclist went up onto the hood, striking the windshield and then coming to rest on Southbridge Street. The bicyclist received attention from a doctor who was passing by.
