Worcester Police to Enhance Effort to Prevent Underage Drinking

The Worcester Police Alcohol Enforcement Unit is stepping up efforts to stop the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors and the purchase and consumption of alcoholic beverages to minors.
To do this, they will be conducting several programs over the Course of the next year and also target establishments that over-serve patrons.
“The goal is to use enforcement practices that will help to prevent access to alcohol by minors and to ensure that alcohol establishments are following proper laws, regulations, and procedures with regard to serving age appropriate patrons,” said Worcester police in their press release.
During the year, members of the Worcester Police Alcohol Enforcement Unit will conduct various underage alcohol compliance stings and surveillance activities.
The Alcohol Enforcement Unit expects business establishments to adhere to the laws of the commonwealth and watch for fake IDs and minors attempting to purchase alcohol.

According to the Center for Disease Control, underage drinking is responsible for more than 4,300 annual deaths among underage youth.
