Worcester Police to Honor Memory of 9 Officers During Annual Memorial Ceremony

The annual Worcester Police Memorial Ceremony honoring the memory of nine officers is set for Sunday, May 20 at 9:30 a.m. at Worcester Police Headquarters.

The ceremony honors retired members of the Worcester Police Department who passed away in 2017. The tradition has been carried on since the late 1800’s.

The event coincides with National Police Week held in Washington D.C.

Chief Steven M. Sargent will preside over the ceremony.

The event will include the traditional bell-ringing and wreath-laying ceremony.

The following officers will be honored: 

  • Chief John F. Coakley
  • Deputy Chief Carlo J. Genatossio
  • Patrolman Allan S. Bjorkman
  • Patrolman Ernest H. Favulli
  • Patrolman Edward I. Jessie
  • Patrolman Raymond M. Kary
  • Patrolman Michael M. Mazzola
  • Patrolman Frank A. Hopkins
  • Patrolman Robert W. Piltzecker
  • Patrolman Andrew J. Sluckis
