McGovern Calls GOP Healthcare Bill Process a “Goddamn Mess”

Congressman Jim McGovern ripped Republicans for the way in which they have handled the process of their healthcare bill.

“I gotta be honest with you, this process, to put it bluntly, is a Goddamn mess. It really is. I don’t know how anyone can defend it. Fixes upon fixes to fix the fixes, to fix the fixes,” said McGovern. 

McGovern went on to criticize the Republican party for rushing the bill to a vote on Thursday. 

“I think the reason we’re rushing this bill to the floor is because next week Congress is out of session, Members go home, and they’re going to hear directly from their constituents about how upset they are about the fact that essential healthcare protections are being taken away from them,” said McGovern. 

McGovern concluded, “You guys can defend it and you’ll have to defend it. But I think you’re going to be surprised how upset the American people are going to be at the way you’re handling this. This is not the way we should operate. I think the process and the way this is being handled is an insult to this institution. And more importantly, it’s an insult to the American people."
