Jacob Grandison poured in 25 points for Holy Cross
Jacob Grandison scored a career-high 25 points to lead the Holy Cross Crusaders past Iona 78-71 in the final game of the non-conference season on Sunday.

Grandson also grabbed nine rebounds and dished out eight assists in the game.

Holy Cross finishes the non-conference season with a record of 9-4 overall, while Iona falls to 2-9.

Holy Cross Holds Off Iona

Iona led by as much as eight points in the first half before holding a 26-22 lead with six minutes left in the half.

Holy Cross then went on an 18-4 run over the next five minutes to take a 40-30 lead with. Just over a minute to play.

The run was sparked by 12 points from Austin Butler.

The Crusaders would take a 40-33 lead into the half.

In the second half, Holy Cross held at least a ten point lead for the majority of play before a late run by Iona saw the Crusaders lead tried to four, 71-67 with under two minutes to go.

A layup by Butler then put the Crusaders back up by six, and Holy Cross held the Gaels to two of seven shooting down the stretch to pull out the victory.

Next Up

Holy Cross returns to action on Thursday, January 3 when they open Patriot League play against Loyola.

Game time is set for 7 p.m.

    The Crusaders hosted the Patriot League Championship game at the Hart Center and defeated Bucknell 74-66.

    Keith Simmons led Holy Cross in the game.

    Holy Cross vs Bucknell - Patriot League Championship 

    The Crusaders won their first Patriot league title beating Bucknell 98-73.

    Rob Feaster was named tournament MVP after pouring in 66 points and recording 9 steals in three games.

    Holy Cross vs. #8 Providence in ECAC Championship 

    Holy Cross defeated Providence 68-67 on a buzzer beater by Chris Potter to win ECAC Championship and advance to NCAA Tournament for first time in 21 years.

    Holy Cross vs. Army MAAC North Championship game

    Holy Cross rolled Army 86-68 and clinched the MAAC North title.

    The title was the program's first conference championship. 

    Dwight Pernell led Holy Cross with 22 points in the game.

    March 13,1977

     Holy Cross vs Michigan in NCAA Tournament

    The game marked Holy Cross' first NCAA Tournament appearance in 21 seasons. 

    After leading 72-70 with less than 5 minutes to play, the Crusaders fell 92-81. 

    Holy Cross was led that season by Ronnie Perry, however, he was injured for this game.

    March 13,1954  

    Holy Cross vs Duquesne - NIT Championship game

    Holy Cross won the NIT Championship game 71-62 over Duquesne. 

    The Crusaders were led by Togo Palazzi who was named MVP of the tournament.

    Palazzi went as the number one pick in the NBA Draft to the Boston Celtics a couple of months later.
