The Holy Cross Crusaders men’s basketball team fell to the San Diego Toreros 68-51 on Saturday night at the Jenny Craig Pavilion in San Diego.

Holy Cross shot just 37% from the field, 30% from three and 30% from the free-throw line in the game.

The Crusaders are now 1-8 on the season, while San Diego improves to 4-7 overall.

The Crusaders opened the game by jumping out to an early 11-5 lead after the first six minutes of action.

The Toreros responded with eight straight points to pull in front, and later held a 26-24 lead with 4:44 left before the break.

San Diego closed out the frame with an 11-2 run to take a 37-26 advantage into the locker room.

The Crusaders opened the second half with a 12-5 run to pull to within four points, 42-38, with 14:46 left to play.

From there, the Crusaders went cold from the field, going over seven minutes without a point as the Toreros used a 15-0 run to put the game away.

San Diego led by at least 14 points the rest of night, eventually posting a 17-point victory.

Holy Cross was led by freshman forward Joe Pridgen, who poured in 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Next Up

Holy Cross returns to action on Tuesday, December 10 when they host UMass Boston.

Game time is set for 7 p.m.
