Revolution Play San Jose to 2-2 Draw

Christian Penilla scored his 6th goal of the season
The New England Revolution played the San Jose Earthquakes to a 2-2 draw on Wednesday night in San Jose.

The draw brings New England’s record to 6-4-6 on the season, while San Jose drops to 2-9-4 overall.

Revolution Can’ Hang on

With the game tied at one, Revolution rookie Christian Penilla found the back of the net off a pass from Diego Fagundez to put the Revs up 2-1 in the 43rd minute.

The goal was Penilla’a sixth of the season, the second most among MLS rookies and three behind Teal Bunbury for the team lead.

However, the Revolution were unable to hang on.

San Jose’s Danny Hoesen found the back of the net in the 51st minute to tie the game at two. The goal was Hoesen’s second of the game.

There would be no more scoring the rest of the way.

Next Up

The Revolution return to action on Saturday, June 20 when they host D.C. United at Gillette Stadium.

The match is set for 7:30 p.m.
