Tony Gallo returns to the Worcester 78s
The Worcester 78s announced that league-leading scorer Tony Gallo will be rearing to the team for the 2018-19 season.

“Bringing Tony back was our top personnel priority for the off-season. He checks all the boxes: elite player, leadership skills with credibility, international experience, a good man, a great father and running a successful business training young people to be better, healthier players,” said Tom Marino, 78s team owner.

The 2018-19 season begins in November. It will be Gallo’s 8th year a pro.

About Gallo

Last season, Gallo scored 40 or more points on five different occasions while also being the team leader in assists per game (5.5) and free throw percentage (85%). His 2.8 steals per game was second best on the 78s with his 6.6 rebounds per game third on the team.

He was named an ABA All-Star and was one of just 64 players selected to participate in ABA Gold, an elite showcase event in Las Vegas scheduled for summer 2019.

Gallo is Coppin State University alumni, winning the University’s Male Sportsperson of the Year award in 2012. He finished his senior year 2nd in scoring and 3rd in three-point percentage in the MEAC and was named to the 1st team all-conference and HBCU 1st team All-American. Bleacher report listed Gallo #9 on its “Ten Best Little-Guys in College Basketball” in 2012.

Gallo played his rookie season with ZZ Leiden in Netherlands DBL and played with St. John Riptide in the Canadian NBL.

He lives on the North Shore in Massachusetts with his longtime girlfriend and their two children.
